Bibliotheca Pretiosa [Formerly LibScribd] is a project wich born inside the PLGO Community, looking provide and share with the visitors a well ordinated collection of works, related directly with Patristic/Patrological themes. 

Taking all the advantages provided by the Scribd' API, the PLGO community has been working in this project since September 2010, and through different steps in the development of such projects, the May 3, 2014, we merge both projects offering to our friends and visitors the actual Bibliotheca Pretiosa.

Here you will find all the contents included in our Scribd account, but minimizing to the limit the difficulties to place and access such documents, and displaying none advertisement' banners nor pop-ups.

Indexing, organizing and reviewing our contents, we hope still helping the academical community providing classical texts and editions carefuly selected from various sources, as Gallica, Google Books and Internet Archive..

We are convinced too that our minimal web template allow browse quickly and easily between the contents, and optimizes too the 'full screen' reading, displaying the items with the best results in any screen. And best of all, ¡legally and most of them from Public Domain!

1Le propos de cet article est de présenter un résumé des résultats de nombreuses années de recherche archéologique sur le site de Bi’r Umm Fawâkhir, dans le désert Oriental d'Égypte1. Il donnera un bref aperçu des campagnes de fouilles, certains aspects de la vie dans le site et un examen des techniques d'extraction et de traitement du minerai dans l’Antiquité. Le « Bi’r Umm Fawâkhir Project » de l’Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago a réalisé quatre campagnes de prospections et une campagne de fouille suivie d’une saison d'étude en 2001 à Qift. Les travaux topographiques ont commencé à cartographier l'extrémité sud-est du site en 1992 puis le travail a été poursuivi vers le nord-ouest en 1993 et 1996 ; un gros effort a été fait en 1997 pour compléter la carte de ce que nous appelons désormais l’établissement principal. Le site s’étend sur un demi-kilomètre d’une extrémité à l'autre (fig. 1). En 1999, nous avons eu l’opportunité de procéder à des fouilles mais nous avons seulement pu explorer trois des 237 bâtiments, soit un petit échantillon (fig. 1, 2). Outre la cartographie de l’établissement principal (en bleu sur la fig. 3), nous avons effectué des prospections dans les environs du site et repéré quatorze groupes de vestiges périphériques (en rouge sur la fig. 3) datables des v^e et vi^e siècles byzantins2.

2 January 2019: We publish today a new Greek text and translation of IG I³ 1 (decree relating to Salamis, c. 508-500 BC?) and a first batch of ephebic dedications, most dating before 321 BC, listed at Publication 2 January 2019. At the same time we update and expand the notes on the ephebic decrees RO 89. In the context of improving our coverage of early 4th-cent. laws and decrees, we have revised the law on the approval of silver coinage, 375/4 BC, the alliance with Karystos, 357/6 BC, the decree on the cult of Asklepios in Piraeus, early-iv BC, and the law on the repair of the sanctuary at Brauron, 354/3-343 BC. We have also added Greek texts of most of the laws and decrees of 403/2-353/2 BC included on AIO. Where not available elsewhere in open access they have been allocated specific AIO numbers: Browse by Source - AIO. In addition we have revised and updated the decree on the property of Kodros, Neleus and Basile, 418/7 BC (notes), the sacrificial calendar of the Marathonian Tetrapolis, 375-350 BC (translation and notes), and the tribal decrees honouring the taxiarch of Kekropis, 339/8 BC (Greek text, translation and notes).

Now more than ever the future of archaeological site conservation and management hinges on establishing better international cultural cooperation in support of local communities and local stewards in their work to preserve, protect, and document heritage sites in their region.

There’s a saying that culture and cultural heritage ‘shapes’ us and with that in mind, the primary goal of the Archaeology Information Network is to inspire broader public support of the value and importance of culture as more than simply a legacy of physical artefacts but as the tangible and intangible memory of a group or a society worth remembering, and worth protecting.

The purpose of the AAMA Project is to create a morphological archive whose data can be:

• curated (edited/created) -- and hopefully shared!
• inspected
• manipulated
• queried

on individual browsers.

In the first instance the archive should make available and comparable the major morphological paradigms of some forty Cushitic and Omotic languages, and in the longer term help situate the morphologies of these two language families within Afroasiatic. Ultimately we hope also that the archive and its accompanying software may serve as a tool for exploration of typology and structure of the form of linguistic organization known as the paradigm.

Our Mission

Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute seeks to promote the study and preservation of the Syriac heritage and language, and to facilitate opportunities for people to pursue the study of this ancient legacy globally. We aim to serve the academic community and the heirs of the Syriac heritage transcending denominational diversity. We carry out innovative educational projects that globalize Syriac studies, making it available through the internet in every university, classroom, library and home.

Our History

In 1992, the Institute — formerly known as The Syriac Computing Institute (SyrCOM) — was established informally by George Anton Kiraz, then at the University of Cambridge. SyrCOM’s main objective was to attract volunteers to work on Syriac projects by means of computer technology.

In 1996, SyrCOM moved to New Jersey, where it was formally registered as a nonprofit organization with a board of trustees governing its activities. By the year 2000, SyrCOM had successfully ventured into a wide range of exciting projects, from technological contributions such as the development of fonts for Windows 2000 Professional™, to scholarly activities such as the electronic publication of eBooks and an eJournal. Through these innovative projects, the Institute earned the respect and support of Syriac scholarship and the Syriac-speaking communities.

At the dawn of the Third Millennium, SyrCOM’s mission was broadened with a new name to reflect its objectives. The Institute’s Syriac name, Beth Mardutho, implies a ‘place of learning’, portraying the ultimate goal of the Institute: The establishment of a Syriac studies center affiliated with leading universities that globalizes Syriac studies through the Internet.
