In April of 2019 the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań’s authorities prepared the list of documents necessary to legally establish the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens and forwarded them through diplomatic channels to the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Greece.
On 29th of May 2019 the Central Archaeological Board of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Republic of Greece gave its permission to establish the Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens. In the wake of this, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Greece officially declared the PAIA as a legally existing entity by the letter dated to 28th of June 2019 and categorized the Institute as a “Foreign Archaeological School in Greece”.
