Your Digital Window into the Ancient New Testament Text
For over two decades, our database has served as a central repository for high-resolution images of Greek New Testament manuscripts. However, the previous system was limited to Greek manuscripts with Gregory-Aland numbers. To better serve the scholarly community, we have spent several years rebuilding our platform from the ground up to move beyond these technical restrictions.
Key advancements of the new interface include:
Expanded Curatorial Scope: The new architecture allows us to host and display resources previously excluded from our database, including non-Greek manuscripts (Coptic, Arabic, Syriac), rare printed editions, and unpublished scholarly papers.
Enhanced Functionality: Improved tools for viewing and interacting with high-resolution images, designed specifically for the needs of modern manuscript research.
Scalable Foundation: This platform is built to adapt alongside the evolving field of New Testament manuscript studies and Digital Humanities at large, serving as a foundation for future tools and a broader range of primary resources.
We believe this launch marks a new chapter in digital access to these ancient artifacts. Would you be interested in featuring this announcement on AWOL, or perhaps a guest post from our team detailing the "why" behind this new design and its implications for the field?
