Il riconoscimento della Via Appia Regina Viarum quale Patrimonio Mondiale UNESCO nel 2024 costituisce un passaggio di straordinaria rilevanza per la tutela e la valorizzazione di uno dei più significativi sistemi culturali del Mediterraneo. Il volume raccoglie gli esiti e i ragionamenti sviluppati durante il Forum promosso dalla Commissione Cultura del Distretto Rotary 2101 presso il Real Sito di Carditello, offrendo una riflessione corale affidata a studiosi, esperti e rappresentanti delle istituzioni. This volume brings together the outcomes and reflections developed during the Forum promoted by the Culture Commission of Rotary District 2101 at the Royal Site of Carditello, with a particular focus on the Campanian section of the ancient road. The essays explore the historical, archaeological, landscape and cultural values that define this territory, highlighting the relationship between tangible and intangible heritage, collective memory and local identities. The result is a portrait of a complex and layered cultural system, where heritage conservation and enhancement are closely linked to local development strategies. From this perspective, UNESCO recognition is not only an important international acknowledgment, but also an opportunity to strengthen the connection between heritage, place and communities, fostering cultural growth, participation and sustainable development.Keywords
