Mediterranea. International Journal on the Transfer of Knowledge
ISSN: 2445-2378

Mediterranea is an international journal focusing on various areas of knowledge transfer from Late Antiquity to the Early Modern period, covering the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin, and paying special attention to philological, philosophical, scientific, cultural and religious fields of research.

If there is one thing that characterizes the powerful process of knowledge exchange between the Near East and the Latin West it is the passion for knowledge and the discovery of its secrets that inspired scholars of the period. This led to long journeys and rich encounters, and the mutual exchange between cultures that have repercussions up to the present day.

Mediterranea is a project focused on combining efforts, by linking highly qualified research institutions with expertise in the field of transfer of knowledge within the different areas of study that will be addressed in the journal.

Anabases: Traditions et Réceptions de l’Antiquité

Depuis sa naissance en mars 2005, Anabases se veut une revue internationale, transdisciplinaire et comparatiste portant sur la réception et les traditions de l’Antiquité à travers le temps. En bref : qu’advient-il de l’Antiquité après l’Antiquité ?

La démarche interculturelle – qui est à la base des problématiques de l’équipe É.R.A.S.M.E. – sous-tend une perspective transversale dans trois registres d’analyse : 1) entre disciplines, comme l’histoire, la philosophie, les littératures, l’archéologie, les sciences politiques ; 2) entre aires culturelles touchant la Méditerranée, l’Europe, le Proche-Orient et le Moyen-Orient ; 3) entre périodes, depuis l’Antiquité jusqu’au très contemporain.

thersites is an international open access journal for innovative transdisciplinary classical studies founded in 2014 by Christine Walde, Filippo Carlà and Christian Stoffel.

• thersites expands classical reception studies by reflecting on Greco-Roman antiquity as present phenomenon and diachronic culture that is part of today’s transcultural and highly diverse world. Antiquity, in our understanding, does not merely belong to the past, but is always experienced and engaged in the present.
   
• thersites contributes to the critical review on methods, theories, approaches and subjects in classical scholarship, which currently seems to be awkwardly divided between traditional perspectives and cultural turns.
   
• thersites brings together scholars, writers, essayists, artists and all kinds of agents in the culture industry to get a better understanding of how antiquity constitutes a part of today’s culture and (trans-)forms our present.
