Attic Vase Inscriptions (AVI) – changes and updates

Attic Vase Inscriptions (AVI) – changes and updates
The Attic Vase Inscriptions (AVI) project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and directed by Professor Rudolf Wachter at the University of Basle, would like to make known important changes and updates to its database and website ( https://avi.unibas.ch ).
The AVI database, building on Henry Immerwahr’s monumental Corpus of Attic Vase Inscriptions (CAVI), aims to provide the fullest and most accurate information on inscriptions on Attic pottery and is therefore being continually updated.
Among the changes listed on the home page, we would like to draw particular attention to the inclusion of links, in each of our database entries, to the matching records in the Beazley Archive Pottery Database (BAPD) , the Basle Digital LIMC database and, in a growing number of cases, to the databases of individual museums, allowing users quick and comfortable access to a wealth of information about a specific inscribed pot. BAPD and LIMC also link to each other and to AVI thanks to joint efforts with our colleagues at Oxford and Basle over the past year.in due course
The most recently added database feature is the possibility to send us additional information on a particular vase via a direct link shown at the bottom of each entry. There will be further improvements coming up over the next two years which will be announced in due course.
Any comments and suggestions from our users are most welcome so we can make the database an even better resource.
