Universidad de Sevilla: Fondo Antiguo

El acceso a las obras digitalizadas se puede realizar tanto a través de los registros bibliográficos en el catálogo FAMA como directamente en el catálogo del Portal de Fondos Digitalizados.
Una vez acceda a la obra digitalizada, podrá enlazar con el registro catalográfico completo, navegar por las páginas del libro, visualizar los grabados, y descargar la obra.
Actualmente el Portal de Fondos Digitalizados da acceso a texto completo a cerca de 3000 impresos de los siglos XV a XIX, a una selección de manuscritos, a documentos del Archivo Histórico Universitario y a varios títulos de prensa histórica.

Scanned works can be accessed both through the FAMA registers and directly in the old Fondo Antiguo website. Once you access to the scanned work you can link to the full catalog register, read on the pages of the book, view plates and download the whole work. Currently all the ancient books in the library, the Sevillian prints of 16th century and a selection of works from 16th to 18th centuries are scanned and available.

ARTstor Digital Library has collaborated with Yale University to share more than 300 images from the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library’s extraordinary Yale Papyrus Collection. These papyri were excavated at Dura-Europos, Syria, a Hellenistic, Parthian, and Roman city on the Euphrates River where extensive remains of civil and military archives were found in the 1930s. The collection includes private letters, official and religious documents, legal deeds and contracts, biblical texts, and literary works in Greek, Latin, Demotic, Coptic, and Arabic. These images join more than 18,000 images from the Yale University Art Gallery’s Dura-Europos and Gerasa Archives already in the ARTstor Digital Library, which include photographic documentation of the architectural remains and mosaics of these buildings, as well as glass vessels, pottery, and lamps, and plans and drawings from the Yale excavation.

Introduction

The archive, whether finds, documentation or both, is a key product of archaeological investigation and it may be the only record of a historical site destroyed by development. However the field of archaeological archives is one beset by many challenges, some of which are proving difficult to overcome, such as a lack of storage facilities and good public access to the resource. The Archaeological Archives Forum was established in 2002 to link together in partnership all major parties with an interest in archaeological archives, in order that common policies and practice can be developed and applied, and to identify the courses of action necessary to further best practice in the field of archaeological archives, and to effect the means to achieve this action.

AERA: Ancient Egypt Research Associates

Ancient Egypt Research Associates explores Egypt’s archaeological record seeking the origins of civilization. Our mission is to contribute insight and understanding to the present awareness of cultural evolution.

In recent years, we have explored the development of urbanism, labor organization, and the elementary structures of ancient daily life at the once-Lost City of the pyramid builders at Giza.

AERA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Dr. Mark Lehner and Matthew McCauley, with the assistance of Margaret Sears, in 1985 for the purpose of funding and facilitating the research of the Giza Plateau Mapping Project, which grew out of the Sphinx Project.
