Akkadian Love Literature

Akkadian Love Literature
Akkadian Love Literature (AkkLove) is a subdivision of the Sources of Early Akkadian Literature (SEAL) project, whose adaptation to the ORACC standards is now underway. The texts included in AkkLove have been edited and discussed by Nathan Wasserman, Akkadian Love Literature of the Third and Second Millennium BCE, Leipziger Altorientalische Studien (LAOS) 4, Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz, 2016. The numbering of the texts in that volume is followed in the ORACC version.

The aim of AkkLove is to present all Akkadian literary texts dealing with love and sex from the third to the second millennia BCE. This does not include love episodes in larger literary works of mythic and epic content, nor omen series predicting the prospects of a marriage or a woman's fertility. Texts from the first millennium BCE are, for the time being, excluded.
