The Aegean and Cyprus: Interaction Between Two Distinct Cultural Mediterranean Areas from the Third Millennium to Ca 1200 BC

Giampaolo Graziadi

Collana | Studi ciprioti
Volume 4 | Monografia | The Aegean and Cyprus

Compared to all other Bronze Age Mediterranean regions, Cyprus is the island that established the closest contacts with the Aegean, and the interaction between Cyprus and the Aegean has therefore clearly been a subject of intense discussion. Assuming that Bronze Age trade was not unidirectional, this book provides a review of the available archaeological data from the third millennium BC to ca 1200 BC from both the Aegean and Cypriot perspectives. The relevant finds from the Aegean regions and Cyprus are considered here in order to discuss the dynamics of contacts between the two areas leading up to the period around 1200 BC when dramatic changes occurred in their relationships.
