CAWM Map Tiles: Consortium of Ancient World Mappers

The Consortium of Ancient World Mapper's updated base map tile server can be found at the link below or by clicking the image to the left. These tiles are particularly useful as a base layer for maps of the Ancient Middle East and Mediterranean Basin. For other regions of the ancient world, users may need to add their own water polygons (rivers, lakes, bays, etc.) to achieve their desired level of accuracy.
The data provided by the CAWM Tile Server are provided under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

These tiles are currently hosted courtesy of the Digital Scholarship & Publishing Studio at the University of Iowa Libraries, and were created by Ryan Horne at the Ancient World Mapping Center and were edited and regenerated by Jay Bowen and Matthew Butler at the Digital Scholarship & Publishing Studio from data produced by Ryan Horne, Richard Talbert, Jeffrey Becker, Ross Twele, Audrey Jo, Ray Belanger, Luke Hagemann, Ashley Lee, and others.
