The Ancient Jew Review is a non-profit web journal devoted to the study of Ancient Judaism. In this respect, AJR incorporates scholarship from a wide range of fields, including Roman History, Persian History, Biblical Studies, Ancient Christianity, Rabbinic Judaism, and the Second Temple. AJR is committed to regularly showcasing content from these respective fields, interviewing scholars on past and future projects, and discussing new publications in hopes of furthering the collaborative resources of scholarship in antiquity.

Ancient Jew Review (AJR) is a central site for the study of ancient Jews and their neighbors. Since its founding in 2014, AJR has explored the ancient and late antique landscape, focusing upon the literature, language, and culture of these imperial contexts.

AJR further believes in the power of collaboration between scholars across fields and geographic centers. Parallel projects can and do illuminate the contours of life in antiquity, and comparative analysis provides a better understanding of shared historical and geographic space. This site joins biblical studies and religious studies, historians and classicists together in a joint inquiry into the ancient world.

AJR is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a subscription-free digital journal. This means that all content is freely available without charge to the reader when used for scholarly and educational purposes. When citing individual pieces, follow the periodical requirements of your chosen style guide. Our ISSN number is: ISSN 2769-4860 (online).
