Der Text bietet einen umfassenden Katalog typologisch geordneter Profilzeichnungen keramischer Formen aus der Zeit des Alten Reiches (ca. 3000–2100 v.Chr.) aus den Ausgrabungen in der antiken Stadt Elephantine (Assuan / Ägypten) mit Angaben zum chronologischen Vorkommen der einzelnen Formen. Der Katalog bietet die Grundlage, keramische Fundkomplexe in einem System relativ- und absolutchronologischer Phasen zu datieren.

The volume offers a comprehensive catalogue of pottery types from the excavations in the ancient town of Elephantine (Aswan / Egypt) from the Old Kingdom (ca. 3000-2100 BCE). The types are sorted according to shape groups and information on the chronological ranges of the different types is added. The catalogue offers a basis to date find complexes of pottery sherds according to phases in a system of relative and absolute chronology.
