According to Adolf Kirchhoff's project, the 14th volume of Inscriptiones Graecae was supposed to collect Greek inscriptions from the western regions of the ancient oikoumene (Italia, Sicilia, Sardinia, Gallia, Hispania and Germania) and then, in 1890, IG XIV was finally published by Georg Kaibel. The Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften has recently planned a new edition of the volume.
Officina di IG XIV2 aims to provide a space for promoting dialogue between scholars and for pooling their expertise in the study of Greek western inscriptions, especially those from Italy. Presenting and discussing the ongoing works with the scientific community is a good way to enhance the final quality of the IG XIV new edition, based on the collaboration of many experts.
Officina di IG XIV2 foresees three seminars per year for discussing unpublished texts or new readings/interpretations of already published documents: to ensure an edition and an exegesis of the texts as correct and satisfactory as possible, the presentation of a specialist will be followed by a debate inspired by the most open and relaxed spirit of scientific collaboration.
