Thematic Index of Classics in JStor
This site is an automatically generated index of themes in a collection of more than 130,000 research articles archived in JStor. For each theme, you can browse articles associated with that theme, with links directly to the text of the articles in JStor. You can also view temporal trends in publication for the theme, organized by journal. 

Each theme is represented by assigning a weight to every word in the vocabulary of the corpus. The 50 highest weighted words are shown. Some themes are better-estimated than others. Words that are shown in full-size and black are likely to be meaningful, while smaller words in lighter shades may be random artifacts of the model. 

The time-series plot shows the proportion of the words in the corpus in a given year that are assigned to a theme. Gray bars show decades. The y-axis is not comparable between themes. 

The work presented here was developed by David Mimno under the Cybereditions Project, an effort led by the Perseus Project at Tufts University and funded by the Mellon Foundation.

Pastoralism: Research, Policy and Practice

Pastoralism: Research, Policy and Practice is an interdisciplinary and peer-reviewed journal on extensive livestock production systems throughout the world. Pastoralists rely on rangelands and livestock for their livelihoods, but exhibit different levels of mobility and market involvement, and operate under a variety of different land tenure regimes. Pastoralism publishes research that influences public policy, to improve the welfare of these people and better conserve the environments in which they live.


The journal investigates pastoralism from a variety of disciplinary perspectives across the biophysical, social and economic sciences. This is not applied research in the traditional sense, but relevant research, sometimes even basic research, with the capacity ultimately to change the way practical people do business. Predicting what kind of research will fulfil this role is virtually impossible. What we can do is keep policy makers, practitioners and pastoralists talking to scientists and researchers and aware of each others' concerns.

Pelagios: Enable Linked Ancient Geodata In Open Systems
PELAGIOS stands for 'Pelagios: Enable Linked Ancient Geodata In Open Systems' - its aim is to help introduce Linked Open Data goodness into online resources that refer to places in the Ancient World. Why do we want to do that? Well, we think it will make all sorts of other things possible, including new modes of discovery and visualization for scholars and the general public. Pelagios also means 'of the sea', the superhighway of the ancient world - a metaphor we consider appropriate for a digital resource that will connect references to ancient places



We are an international consortium of projects and research groups:

Die Griechischen Christlichen Schriftsteller (GCS) Online

Roger Pearse in his blog Thoughts on Antiquity, Patristics, putting things online, freedom of speech, information access, and more, offers a complete list of volumes in  Die Griechischen Christlichen Schriftsteller, and links to copies available online.

Die Griechischen Christlichen Schriftsteller (GCS) – volumes available online
Back in 2008, the PLGO group laboriously compiled a list of the volumes of the GCS, with links to online copies.   This useful resource has recently disappeared.  A copy exists in ScribD, but this is not nearly as accessible.  A set of copies can be found in ScribD here.  I have transcribed the list here.
It seems that the GCS series was uncommon in US libraries.  All volumes before 1923 are out of copyright in the USA.  Let us hope that the missing volumes will be scanned and uploaded.  Those of us who do not live at major universities have no other opportunity to use these volumes.
Corrections and additions are welcome — please use the Comments facility.  I have today added a number of links from IA using the searches “Eusebius werke” and “origenes werke”.

מגלי''ם הוא מכון מחקר והוראה, שהציב לעצמו מטרה להעמיק את הידע על אודות ירושלים בתחומי ההיסטוריה, הארכיאולוגיה והתנ''ך. במכון מלמדים אנשי אקדמיה בעלי שם בארץ ובעולם, ומגמת פניו של המכון אל הקהל הרחב . במגלי''ם שואפים ליצור מגע בלתי אמצעי בין אנשי המדע - החופרים והחוקרים – לבין כל המבקש ללמוד על ירושלים ברמה מקצועית ומעודכנת.
הייחוד של מגלי''ם הוא הקשר ההדוק לשטח. המכון, על מוריו וחוקריו, נוטל חלק פעיל בחפירות הארכיאולוגיות המרתקות המתקיימות כיום בעיר דוד ובירושלים הקדומה ובשל כך הלמידה במכון דינאמית ותוססת. מלבד הקורסים מקיים המכון מגוון רחב של השתלמויות וימי עיון. גולת הכותרת של הפעילות העיונית של המכון היא כנס 'מחקרי עיר דוד' שהוא הכנס הארכיאולוגי הגדול בארץ, ובו מציגים החופרים והחוקרים את החידושים העדכניים ביותר בחקר ירושלים. המכון עוסק בהוצאה לאור של ספרים ופרסומים, פרי מחקרם של מומחים, בתחומים הרלבנטיים.

The Megalim Institute was founded with the purpose of enhancing knowledge of ancient Jerusalem in the areas of history, archeology and the Bible. The institute deals both in research and in educational activities. Many of the lecturers are actively involved in the archeological excavations taking place in ancient Jerusalem, creating a unique experience for students, who can have direct contact with the scholar and the field.
The institute holds courses on a wide variety subjects and hosts conferences and conventions for the general public.
Megalim sponsors the annual conference on the City of David – Studies of Ancient Jerusalem, which is the largest archeological conference in Israel. Another major conference on a variety of themes connected with Jerusalem is held in late summer.
Megalim Institute’s books and other publications have gained wide acclaim. They include both scientific works, such as Prof. Reich’s translation and redaction of Louis Vincent's Underground Jerusalem and more popular publications on the City of David and ancient Jerusalem.
