The MENAdoc - Digital Collections is one of the central components of the DFG Specialised Information Service for Middle East, North African and Islamic Studies' digital services. MENAdoc provides Open Access digital documents with regard to the MENA-region and to Islamic studies. It is comprised of the following collections:

Digitised materials

Born digital materials

All titles of the MENAdoc - Digital Collections

A new service for Middle East and Islamic studies:

Digitised Serials of the Orient Institutes Beirut and Istanbul

As agreed upon with the Orient Institute Beirut, MENAdoc hosts digitised volumes of the scholarly series Bibliotheca Islamica and Beiruter Texte und Studien. A similar agreement with the Orient Institute Istanbul will soon make the volumes of the series Istanbuler Texte und Studien available in Open Access as well.

All volumes of the series Bibliotheca Islamica will be published online at the same time as the print issue, while the volumes of BTS and ITS will appear on MENAdoc with a moving wall.

All the digital services of the Specialised Information Service for Middle East, North African and Islamic Studies supported by the DFG based at the University and State Library Saxony-Anhalt (ULB Halle) are employed in the Middle East Virtual Library MENALIB. MENALIB provides access to bibliographic databases and gives information to ongoing conferences and research projects in the fields of Middle East and Islamic Studies. At the same time MENALIB provides access to open e-documents as well as e-material under licence.

Lexundria: A Digital Library of Antiquity

[First posted in AWOL  13 December 2014, updated 19 May 2022]

Lexundria: A Digital Library of Antiquity
Lexundria is a digital library of classical antiquity. Although most of the texts on this site can be found elsewhere on the internet, this project aims to make them accessible in a more research-friendly format. The Lexundria editions are thus distinguished by the following features:
1. Standard reference numbers. Most classical texts have a standard referencing scheme used by academics and other authors (analogous to the verse divisions of the Bible). These divisions are clearly marked in the texts on this site, even when the corresponding print edition does not contain them.
2. Pin-citation functionality. You can easily look up a passage at Lexundria using its pin citation. Rather than browse through long blocks of text in order to find the passage you’re looking for, simply enter the standard citation in the Lexundria search box. Lexundria will automatically pinpoint the passage and display it.
3. Parallel-editions mode. When Lexundria hosts more than one edition of a work, you will see a “compare” option at the bottom of the version menu. This feature allows you to compare editions side-by-side, one passage at a time. For a taste of how this works, try reading Epicurus’s Kuriai Doxai in comparison mode.
4. A comprehensive search engine. Lexundria’s full-text search engine makes it easy to search for words and phrases. To search the entire Lexundria library, simply enter your search terms in the search box and hit submit. To limit your search to a single work, add a backslash followed by the standard abbreviation for the work. (For example, “Antonius \Cic. Phil.” will search for occurrences of “Antonius” only in Cicero’s Philippics.) To limit your search to a single edition, add another backslash followed by the Lexundria abbreviation for the edition. (Edition abbreviations can be found on Lexundria’s table of contents page for the work you’re interested in.)

The Oriental Institute Open Access Publications

The Oriental Institute Open Access Publications

Including Both Digital Manifestations of Print Publications and Born Digital Publications

http://ancientworldonline.blogspot.com/2010/10/oriental-institute-open-access.html

[Originally posted April 9, 2008 on the Ancient World Bloggers Group at AWOL - The Ancient World Online - 2: The Oriental Institute Electronic Publications Initiative, the "canonical" version of the list of online publications of the OI developed there for two and a half years and moved here during Open Access Week on October 19, 2010.  It will be kept up to date in this location henceforth.  Most recently updated 30 April 2022]

Starting in 2004, the Oriental Institute committed to digitizing all of its publications and making them available online, without charge. The minimum for each volume, old and new, current and forthcoming, will be a Portable Document Format (PDF) version following current resolution standards. New publications appear online at or near the time they appear in print. Older publications will be processed as time and funding permits. Several hundred volumes are now online.

Following is an up to date listing of all open access digital products of the Oriental Institute, including fascsimilies of paper based book, databases, born-digital initiatives, and multi-media presentations.

Oriental Institute News & Notes
News & Notes is a Quarterly Publication of The Oriental Institute, printed for members as one of the privileges of membership.

n.b. issue 247, p. 1: "COVID-19 restrictions stemming from office closure have led to the decision to transition the bulk of OI print material to online-only formats. We will no longer mail print copies of News & Notes. We will continue to publish News & Notes each quarter in a digital format available to our members. Moving away from printed editions will ensure that every dollar of your membership donation now fully supports the current work and scholarship of the Oriental Institute."
