ISSN: 2603-3216

Supplements to Be-Ja are separate  volumes that are submitted to the Editorial Board as a print-ready copy for electronic publication (according to the Be-JA guidelines). They include: awarded PhD dissertations that have been approved for publishing; conference proceedings with their own editors/editorial boards who are responsible for the content and quality of the published material; monographs, whose authors should provide evidence for successful peer-review (positive evaluations and recommendation for publishing) and overall editing.

Due to the specific procedure of acceptance of the supplements, the articles published there are not indexed (i.e. included in the Web of Science and ERIH PLUS platforms). The publication of supplements are only formally approved by the Be-JA editorial.  The responsibility for the publications’ quality stays with the editors of the conference proceedings, and respectively, the reviewers recommending a monograph and/or a PhD thesis to be published in the Be-JA supplements’ series.  The administrative matters are negotiated with the Executive Board of ABA. The manuscripts are submitted to the editorial address of Be-JA.

Open Access Journal: Bulgarian E-Journal of Archaeology / Българско е-Списание за Археология

Bulgarian E-Journal of Archaeology /

Be-JA (ISSN 1314-5088) is the home journal of the Association of Bulgarian Archaeologists (ABA) and is published twice a year. The ambition of its creators and the editorial board is to provide an opportunity for the archaeological community to take part and to contribute in several directions: publication of high quality, richly illustrated studies and articles, reports and reviews; introducing innovative methods of investigations; initiating discussions on problematic issues and maintaining research polemics; publicizing outstanding doctoral theses, etc. High-standard editorial control in the selection and preparation of publications is guaranteed by our editorial procedure – materials from the first two thematic sections of the journal are peer-reviewed by two editors well-acquainted with the discussed topics.

The thematic scope of the journal covers papers concerned with archaeological investigations in Bulgaria and the neighboring areas that are contextually, culturally and chronologically related to processes and events in the past that have resulted in our common archaeological heritage. Supra-regional discussions and debates on global problems like preservation and dissemination of the cultural/historical/archaeological heritage into wider society are warmly welcomed in our journal.
Our goal is to maintain a bilingual standard – papers in Bulgarian and in English are accepted and each of the published materials should be accompanied by a summary in the language alternative to the main language of the article. Detailed notes for contributors can be found at the corresponding link of four website.

Telamon: Online Library of the Ancient Greek Inscriptions from Bulgaria

[First posted in AWOL 15 March 2013, updated (new URLs) 1 October 2021]

Telamon: Online Library of the Ancient Greek Inscriptions from Bulgaria

Telemon

The aim of the Telamon project initiated by the Department of Classics to St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia is to create a digital library of the ancient Greek inscriptions found in Bulgaria. Their number is over 4000 and they have been created over the span of more than eleven centuries (6. c. BC - 6. c. AD). The inscriptions dating up to the 4. c. AD are published by Georgi Mihailov in the 5-volume corpus "Inscriptiones Graecae in Bulgaria repertae" (1956-1997), while the late antique inscriptions are edited by Vesselin Beshevliev in “Spätgriechische und spätlateinische Inschriften aus Bulgarien” (1964). Our goal is to revise these editions as well as to add to them monuments discovered later and often scattered through various, sometimes inaccessible, publications. For the first time these monuments are now being collected into a bilingual digital corpus with translations added. Their revisions, corrections, the publications of new inscriptions and also the commentaries are the result of the scholarly research of Nicolay Sharankov.

Apart from the unrestricted access to all the available epigraphic documentation, the digital database allows the constant enlargement and updating of the information, as well as the establishing of various relations between the documents and searches according to different criteria.

The Telamon platform aids the study of the ancient history, culture and languages of Antiquity in the region of today’s Bulgaria and also of Graeco-Roman civilisation as a whole.

Open Access Journal: The Journal of Egyptological Studies (JES)

[First posted in AWOL 12 October 2011, updated 8 October 2019]

The Journal of Egyptological Studies (JES)
    ISSN: 1312-4307
    http://egyptology-bg.org/wp-content/themes/egypt/images/logo.png

The Journal of Egyptological Studies (JES) is published by the Bulgarian Institute of Egyptology. It is issued on an annual basis since September 2004. The JES is a result of the development and expansion of Egyptology in Bulgaria. It gives Egyptologists an opportunity to publish new original ideas, new approaches and data in connection with the language, literature, religion, archeology and history of the “place where our hearts live”.

The Journal of Egyptological Studies is open to the international Egyptolgical society, but also aims to establish a bridge between Western schools of Egyptology and their colleagues from Eastern Europe. As a result of World War II and the political changes, which took place afterwards, part of the connections between scholars from different countries in Europe has been interrupted. Nowadays, for example, few Egyptologists abroad know about fundamental achievements of Russian scholars in the field of socio-economic, political and cultural history of Ancient Egypt. We want to cooperate in filling this gap, encouraging young scholars to contribute to the process of exchange of ideas and experience in our field.
