Open Access Journal: Bulletin of Online Emendations to Papyri

[First posted in AWOL 16 February 2012. Updated 3 August 2017]

Bulletin of Online Emendations to Papyri (BOEP)
Zentrum für Altertumswissenschaften
"We are happy to release the first-ever bulletin of online emendations made to papyri in the Duke Databank of Documentary Papyri (DDbDP). As is well known, papyrologists around the world have over the past two years been entering published documentary texts to the Duke Databank via the Papyrological Editor (formerly SoSOL) at www.papyri.info/editor/. In the process, some people have also proposed a number of emendations to existing texts. This bulletin gathers the proposals that have so far been vetted and adopted by the PN's editorial board. Our hope is that by issuing regular updates we will provide users with a helpful overview of evolving scholarly discussion concerning individual texts. We believe that these bulletins will also facilitate ongoing production of resources such as the Berichtigungsliste and HGV by highlighting meaningful changes to texts among the many other kinds of alterations (automated fixes, typo corrections, etc.) that are regularly made to documents in the DDbDP".

"...We wish to draw your attention to a new section [in BLEP 5.1] of BOEP, “Born-Digital Edtions,” which lists full editions of papyri that appear exclusively in papyri.info, not having been published previously.  This issue includes three Gothenburg papyri that were only described in H. Frisk’s 1929 publication.  Each edition has been vetted by at least two specialists in the field.  We thank all who have been involved in this, and welcome future submissions from members of the community".

Description

The papers in this volume derive from the conference on textile terminology held in June 2014 at the University of Copenhagen. Around 50 experts from the fields of Ancient History, Indo-European Studies, Semitic Philology, Assyriology, Classical Archaeology, and Terminology from twelve different countries came together at the Centre for Textile Research, to discuss textile terminology, semantic fields of clothing and technology, loan words, and developments of textile terms in Antiquity. They exchanged ideas, research results, and presented various views and methods.
This volume contains 35 chapters, divided into five sections: • Textile terminologies across the ancient Near East and the Southern Levant • Textile terminologies in Europe and Egypt • Textile terminologies in metaphorical language and poetry • Textile terminologies: examples from China and Japan • Technical terms of textiles and textile tools and methodologies of classifications
The 42 contributors include Salvatore Gaspa, Cécile Michel, Marie-Louise Nosch, Elena Soriga, Louise Quillien, Luigi Malatacca, Nahum Ben-Yehuda, Christina Katsikadeli, Orit Shamir, Agnes Korn, Georg Warning, Birgit Anette Olsen, Stella Spantidaki, Peder Flemestad, Peter Herz, Ines Bogensperger, Herbert Graßl, Mary Harlow, Berit Hildebrandt, Magdalena Öhrman, Roland Schuhmann, Kerstin Droß-Krüpe, John Peter Wild, Maria Mossakowska-Gaubert, Julia Galliker, Anne Regourd, Fiona J. Cuneiform Commentaries Project News

Cuneiform Commentaries Project News
Many new editions have been uploaded to the website of the Cuneiform Commentaries Project since we last made a public announcement. A number of them were previously unpublished and therefore substantially increase the body of Mesopotamian exegesis. They include:

(1) A previously unpublished commentary on Shumma Alu 59 (http://ccp.yale.edu/P286488), by E. Frahm
(2) The commentary on NBGT (http://ccp.yale.edu/P461061), by M. Frazer
(3) A previously unpublished commentary on Enuma Anu Enlil 5 (http://ccp.yale.edu/P299300), by M. Frazer
(4) An important ritual commentary (http://ccp.yale.edu/P461230), by E. Jiménez
(5) The commentary on the Babylonian Theodicy (http://ccp.yale.edu/P404917), by E. Jiménez
(6) The commentary on Marduk’s Address to the Demons (http://ccp.yale.edu/P430865, by the three authors).

In addition:

(1) Uri Gabbay has written an introduction to the comparative study of Akkadian commentaries and Early Hebrew exegesis (http://ccp.yale.edu/introduction/akkadian-hebrew-exegesis).

(2) Steve Tinney has implemented several new features to achieve a smoother integration between the CCP website and Oracc. The most important are (a) it is now possible to colour code the transliterations of commentaries so that citations from the base text (in blue) are discernible at a glance from the explanations (in black) and from quotations from other texts (in red). and (b) the glossaries now link to the CCP website. Every transliteration on the CCP website has been revised and updated to reflect the new colour codes implemented by Tinney.

Thanks are expressed to the following scholars who have contributed their editions and feedback since the last newsletter: Yoram Cohen, Jeanette C. Fincke, Sally M. Freedman, Uri Gabbay, Mathieu Ossendrijver, Matthew Rutz, Luis Sáenz, Henry Stadhouders, Ulla Koch, and Zackary Wainer. We would like to renew our invitation to Assyriologists around the world to contribute their editions of as yet unedited commentary tablets, for which they will receive full credit.

Please note that it is possible to subscribe to the CCP’s monthly Newsletter (http://ccp.yale.edu/newsletter).

Starinar: Organ Arheologskog Instituta
ISSN 0350-0241
ISSN 2406-0739 (Online)
The website "Starinar" contains the online version of this journal published by the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade and accessible on the web pages of the National Library of Serbia. The journal is published annually and is dedicated to the archaeological studies in Serbia and the neighbouring countries with direct relevance to Serbian past, with studies ranging from Palaeolithic to Roman times and early Christianity. On this website only the issues from 2002 to 2006 were available at the time of cataloguing, although "Starinar" was first published in 1950. The issues can be browsed by tables of contents, which list all the titles in English. The research studies and articles however can be in Serbian, English, German, French or Italian. Files are in PDF format, which can be downloaded or read online; the site also offers the option of emailing the articles. The site offers no information about the editorial board and policy of the journal; similarly, the usual submission guidelines for authors are not available. [Description from Intut]
