Open Access Journal: CIPEG E-News (Comité international pour l’Égyptologie)

The “Comité international pour l’Égyptologie” (CIPEG) is one of 30 International Committees of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The scope of CIPEG deals with the international representation of Egyptian collections and museums in a worldwide community. CIPEG provides a unique panel for museum professionals and scholars who deal with Ancient Egyptian heritage.

The Mission of CIPEG is to promote collaboration among colleagues for the study, preservation, and presentation of Egyptian collections, monuments and sites. In addition, it supports collections of Egyptian art and archaeology, including the heritage of the Ancient Sudan, with a special focus on smaller collections, within the framework of ICOM and in close co-operation with the International Association of Egyptologists (IAE).

CIPEG also seeks to promote collaboration among museums, universities and research institutes as well as supplying partnership opportunities, sharing resources, knowledge and experience for an international forum, and holding an annual conference. CIPEG frames resolutions and policies to promote actions and, if requested, advises museum staff, scholars or institutions.

    Die Reihe “Studies in African Archaeology” (SAA) wird seit 1984 vom Archaeological Museum in Poznań (PL ISSN 0866-9244) herausgegeben. In der Reihe erscheinen Monographien zur Vorgeschichte des nord-östlichen Afrikas sowie Tagungsberichte der alle vier Jahre stattfindenden Konferenz “Later Prehistory of Northeastern Africa” (LPNEA), die seit 1980 in Polen durchgeführt wird.

    Nach mehr als 30 Jahren wurde der Band, der die Ergebniss der archäologischen Grabungen, die zwischen 1972 und 1982 in Kadero durchgeführt wurden, vorstellen sollte, publiziert. Da viele der seinerzeit zur Veröffentlichung vorgesehenen Ergebnisse inzwischen durch neue Erkenntnisse überholt sind, werden im vorliegenden Band jetzt die Keramiken der Fundorte u.a. von Shaqadud, Geili, Ghaba, Kadada, Umm Direiwa und Zakiab präsentiert.

SHEDET encourages and provides a medium for the publication of all original research contributions of significant value in all aspects of ancient Egyptian, Islamic and Coptic Archaeology, conservation, museology, and heritage (concerning language, literature, history, art, and related subjects, before the modern period are welcome.It aims to publish research that contributes to the enlargement of knowledge or the advancement of scholarly interpretation.

    SHEDET is presided over by a distinguished Board of Archaeologists, Historians, Restorers, Researchers, Scientists, Engineers and Academicians and is backed by an international advisory and review boards panel consisting of prominent individuals representing many well-known Universities, Colleges and Corporate World.

    Persons and Names of the Middle Kingdom

    The online database “Persons and Names of the Middle Kingdom” (PNM) is developed as part of the project “Umformung und Variabilität im Korpus altägyptischer Personennamen 2055–1550 v. Chr.”, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. The database contains Egyptian Middle Kingdom personal names, people, written sources, titles, and dossiers of persons attested in various sources. Version 2, currently available online, covers the sources from the reign of Mentuhotep II to the reign of Kamose (late 11th–17th Dynasty). The database is a work in progress. Along with additional sources, future versions will also include better translations and classification of names as well as translations of titles.

    Aegyptiaca is an international open access journal, published by the Department of Egyptology, University of Heidelberg. It is dedicated to the documentation and research of the history of reception of ancient Egypt. The journal will be published biannually in English language and will accept German and French articles as well.
    The journal tries to encourage a coherent discussion of the concept and agency of Egypt in the West. As this topic is an object of research in many different disciplines the journal tries to cover a whole range of fields and all periods of the history of reception of ancient Egypt and it is open to different approaches and methods. By doing this the journal tries to keep in mind the question if and in which regard the confrontation with Egypt was a relevant factor of cultural history. The journal will publish articles focussing on special aspects of the history of reception of ancient Egypt in the different testimonia (may it be texts, art or objects) and intends to understand the detailed aspects as part of a bigger story at the same time.

    Mnemohistory and Cultural Memory - Essays in Honour of Jan Assmann
    No. 3 (2018)

    This issue of Aegyptiaca. Journal of the History of Reception of Ancient Egypt pays tribute to the scientific work of Jan Assmann, whose concept of mnemohistory has laid the methodological foundation for the researching into the history of reception of ancient Egypt. The articles featured in this issue make clear how much cultural science, musicology, literary studies, philosophy, history of religion or archaeology were inspired by Assmann's studies on cultural memory and, despite all their scholarship, can transcend disciplinary boundaries and be joyful science.

    The issue is also available in almost every book store ore in the internet.
