Open Access Journal: Marginalia: A Review of Books in History, Theology and Religion

[First posted in AWOL 23 January 2013, updated 16 July 2018]

Marginalia: A Review of Books in History, Theology and Religion
    ISSN: 2325-8357
Knowledge is the economy of the future, the key to innovation, and a step on the path towards a more civil and humane society. Marginalia provides universal access to thinkers and artists and creates new knowledge through connecting the separated silos of the university, arts, and culture into a single space of insight and learning, curated by expert editors guided by our vision of democratizing depth in an age drowning in the shallows.
Deep learning for the digital age captures the meaning of marginalia in modern times: the personalized and actionable knowledge inscribed in the margins of a book’s page – not just commentary but new insight that the individual could use to act in the world. But the margins are now digital, and the insights are for everyone.
We publish every other Friday, with some special features appearing at other times.
Marginalia is a Los Angeles Review of Books Channel. LARB Channels are a community of wholly independent, vanguard online magazines specializing in literary criticism, politics, science, the arts and culture, supported by the Los Angeles Review of Books.

Open Access Journal: The Denver Journal: An Online Review of Current Biblical and Theological Studies

[First posted in AWOL 22 February 2011. Updated 18 May 2018]

The Denver Journal: An Online Review of Current Biblical and Theological Studies

Welcome to Denver Journal. The purpose of the Denver Journal is to establish an online Evangelical review journal of biblical and theological studies edited and produced by the faculty of Denver Seminary for use by alumni and all who are interested in biblical and theological ministry and research.
Denver Journal is a review journal. It aims to include reviews of all recent and significant books and published media relating to the major fields of biblical and theological studies: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology, World Christianity, Pastoral Ministry and Evangelism, Counseling, Philosophy of Religion, Education Ministries and Administration, Homiletics and Speech, and Youth and Family Ministries.
Denver Journal will include reviews as well as review articles that might include essays on the present state of studies in a field or specific area of that field, annotated bibliographies, extensive reviews of a work of particular significance, and other longer items. The reviews themselves, divided according to the major fields of biblical and theological studies, will normally be 500-800 words in length. An additional section of book notes will include 100-200 word summaries and evaluations of books that are worthy of note but not necessarily deserving a full review in the journal.
Denver Journal is an Evangelical journal. Its choice of books and reviewers reflects the Evangelical commitment and interests of the seminary.
The journal is online. All contributions are written and edited electronically.
You can view past Denver Journals here.

The Classical Journal (ISSN 0009-8353) is published by the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS), the largest regional classics association in the United States and Canada, and is now over a century old. All members of CAMWS receive the journal as a benefit of membership; non-member and library subscriptions are also available. CJ appears four times a year (October-November, December-January, February-March, April-May); each issue consists of about 100 pages.

CJ contains a mix of academic articles and notes on Graeco-Roman antiquity, generally with a literary, historical or cultural focus; paedagogical articles and notes, many having to do with the challenges of teaching Latin and Greek in modern high schools, colleges and universities; book reviews; and a list of books received. In addition, CJ generally publishes the annual CAMWS Presidential Address and the year's Ovationes. Abstracts of all academic articles and notes in volumes 101 (2005-06), 102 (2006-07), 103 (2007-08), 104 (2008-09) and 105 (2009-10) are posted here. PDF versions of a number of recent Forum articles are also available for downloading, and JSTOR links to many others are provided.

CJ-Online, the journal's list-serve, publishes book reviews, including many that do not appear in the hard-copy portion of the journal. All reviews published in CJ-Online are archived. CJ: Online subscriptions are free, and membership in CAMWS is not required to receive the postings or to publish reviews.

This page contains all views entered using the new automated system for listing, starting with reviews at the beginning of 2014. For earlier reviews please follow the links on the Main Reviews Page.
